Annabelle Carney, mom and perinatal psychiatric PA, offering compassionate care
Annabelle Carney with her husband and two children – a happy family moment symbolizing healing, connection, and thriving after postpartum challenges.

Hi, I’m Annabelle!

Women deserve to be seen, heard, and have an active role in their mental health treatment and birth experience. My approach to psychiatry goes beyond simply managing symptoms. I partner with women through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond with a whole-body approach that blends emotional support, nutrition, lifestyle changes, and personalized mental health care to help you heal and feel like yourself again.

My journey into psychiatry started in primary care, where I saw firsthand how mental health was often overlooked despite its deep connection to physical well-being. But it wasn’t until I became a mother myself that I truly understood the gaps in perinatal mental health care. I rode the emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy and postpartum. I saw how women – myself included – were expected to simply “push through” without the support we desperately need. Too often, mothers were told to stop important medications with no safe alternatives, or their feelings were dismissed with a hurried checkup and a pamphlet. I knew there had to be a better way.

That’s why I pursued extensive training in perinatal psychiatry, nutrition for mental health, functional medicine, and even became a childbirth educator – so I could offer women the kind of comprehensive care I wish I had received. At Bloom & Balance Psychiatry, my mission is to make sure women feel heard, supported, and empowered in their health decisions. While my passion began with helping mothers during pregnancy and postpartum, I’ve since expanded my practice to support women through other hormonal life transitions as well. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety in pregnancy, feeling lost in postpartum, grappling with intense PMS/PMDD symptoms, or navigating emotional changes in perimenopause, I’m here to guide you toward healing in a way that aligns with your values and needs.

Outside of my practice, I’m a wife and a mom to two little ones – so I truly understand the chaos and the beauty of motherhood. I’m passionate about physiological birth, empowering women in their birth choices, and supporting them through matrescence – the profound transformation of becoming a mother. When I’m not working with patients, you can find me lifting weights, doing yoga or Pilates, baking something yummy, or soaking up the Florida sunshine with a cup of coffee in hand.

I strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can be seen, heard, and supported. Here, your mental health isn’t an afterthought – it’s a priority. I know reaching out for help can be hard, but you don’t have to do this alone. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, I’d be honored to help you bloom and find your balance.
